I remember the first fitness class I ever attended with Michelle and April.  It was step. Upon finishing the class, red in the face and soaked to the bone, I recall thinking – this is nuts, I am never going to do this again…  Yet, here I am!

I began attending Sisters in Fitness when they first opened their doors. I worked at the CBS recreation complex as a lifeguard and would regularly attend classes between shifts. I wanted to get fit and have fun doing it! My top favorite picks would have to be a Butt and Abs class, as well as anything cardio!

In my spare time I enjoy walking, running, hiking, biking and reading! I love to be active and enjoy the outdoors. After attending fitness classes for some time I finally decided that I wanted to complete the course to become an instructor. I completed Group Fitness Instructors course and Zumba fitness course in 2012 and have enjoyed teaching fitness ever since.

I love to teach classes.

cheryl-dye-smMy view is if you’re coming to a class your time is precious so you can’t leave without getting a sweat. I will push you, and work with you to get the most out of every class you attend. Variety, in my opinion, is key. Therefore, I like to mix it up. I love interval work outs and I enjoy incorporating strength and cardio together.

I believe that fitness should be a way of life. My philosophy is that if it is not fun than chances are you will not come. So make it fun – chose classes that appeal to you, give you a good sweat, and enjoy doing!

My best piece of advice is to push yourself and to keep pushing yourself. You may feel that you want to quit and you can’t do it any longer – but trust me, you can. Give yourself a little push, tell yourself “I CAN do this”,  believe you can and you:). I have had members come to a class and say “I didn’t push hard enough – I wasn’t feeling that great tonight” but they did push themselves – they came. Easily they could have chosen to stay home but they didn’t and that itself is an accomplishment!

Cheryl Coates 2The hardest step sometimes is getting the “get up and go” to come to class – but I can guarantee once you come, work out and finish – you cannot beat the feeling you get at the end!
